As companies switch their legacy telephony environments to purely IP-based telephony solutions, they must provide fax services communications in addition to voice telephony.
The trend is companies are switching their legacy telephony environments to IP-based telephony solutions to unify voice, fax and data communications onto a single IP network . Connectis can provides Fax over IP software integration with Voice over IP communication technologies including Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly known as Call Manager) for call processing, and Cisco Unity Connection for voicemail and unified messaging. Other supported environments include Avaya, Mitel and many others. FoIP connectivity is supported with OpenText RightFax and FaxCore enabling these fax servers to virtualize and integrate with VoIP systems supporting multiple protocols (MGCP/SIP/H.323).
In many of our UM implementations involving RightFax and Cisco, we’ve enabled RightFax to automate the administration of call traffic by combining voice and fax into a centralized dial plan within Cisco Unified Communications Manager. It’s no longer necessary for users to manage separate call centers. All call traffic gets routed through the Cisco solution with support for multiple protocols (MGCP, H.323 and SIP). Finally, fax routing can be delivered based on measures within Cisco Unified Communications Manager such as time and other criteria. RightFax can be coupled with enterprise messaging applications such as Cisco Unity Connection software to create a powerful unified messaging solution. When used with Cisco Unity Connection messaging software, the RightFax server increases productivity by enabling users to view, create, and manage all voicemail, email, and fax communications from a single inbox that can be accessed from PCs, telephones, and mobile devices.
In a FoIP solution utilizing Cisco IP/PBX, RightFax can be integrated with Cisco Enterprise Messaging applications such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly Cisco Unified Call Manager) and Cisco Unity Connection. RightFax supports direct integration to Cisco gateways or routers and Cisco Unified Communications Manager via the T.38 real-time FoIP standard. The connection uses a minimal amount of server processing power and supports SIP, H.323 and MGCP protocols. RightFax currently supports Cisco IOS Gateway Series and Universal Gateway Series (those that are T.38 compliant) version 12.3 or later (SIP and H.323) as well as Cisco Unified Communications Manager as follows:
- For H.323; release 4.2.3 or later (within the 4.2x product line)
- For SIP; release 5.0.4(a) or later (within the 5.0x product line)
- For SIP and H.323; OpenText RightFax v9.4 supports 7.x and 8.x
RightFax provides inter-operability and a consistent implementation approach, ensuring a streamlined integration of Fax over IP (FoIP) for Cisco customers. For companies extending unified communication strategies with IP-based document delivery, OpenText RightFax for FoIP supports direct integration with Cisco Products via the T.38 real-time FoIP standard. RightFax has successfully completed intero-perability testing and certification with Cisco Unified Communications Manager 9 and CISCO Unity Connection 9. RightFax 10.5 is now a Cisco Solution Incentive Program (SIP) certified solution.
