TeleForm License Database is Not Initialized
TeleForm is a powerful document and data capture application that reads the meta data content from scanned, faxed or emailed attachment documents. TeleForm ships in 3 platforms Enterprise, WorkGroup and Desktop (single user – this blog doesn’t apply to Desktop). This blog applies only to the Client Server platforms Enterprise and WorkGroup.
Installing TeleForm in a Client Server environment requires a two-step process:
- Install the Server applications
- Install the Workstation applications
If you’re installing TeleForm Workstation applications on a NEW or DEFAULT setup of Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10, the security levels often will prevent you from being able to install the TeleForm applications locally on the workstation.
To fix the problem, you must check these 4 setting.
- Local User Administrator Rights
The Local User must have Administrator rights.
To check User rights, go to Start | Computer (Windows 7), This PC (all other versions of Windows) | Right Click | Manage | Local Users and Groups | Users | click on User Name | on the tab menu, select Member of | Check / Add Administrator. You should now have successfully added a User as a Local Administrator and that User should now belong to the Administrator Group.
- Windows Firewall
You must turn off your Windows Firewall during the installation process.
To temporarily turn off the Windows Firewall go to the Start button | Control Panel | Firewall | and select Turn Windows Firewall On or Off | select the radio button Turn Off Windows Firewall. You’re firewall should now be off, once the TeleForm Workstation installation has been completed you can return to this setting and switch it back on.
Your Anti-Virus must be switched off or disabled during the installation process.
Assuming you do have Anti-Virus software installed, it’s often visible as an icon in your Windows System Tray on the bottom right side of your screen. Right click on the Anti-Virus icon and depending on the brand of software you’re using, you will likely be given the opportunity to switch the Anti-Virus Off or On. Switch to Off during the installation process. Once the TeleForm Workstation installation has successfully been implemented, you can return to this setting and switch it back to On.
- User Access Control
Your Windows User Access control must be set to Never Notify during the TeleForm Workstation installation process.
Go to the Start button | Control Panel | Users | User Account Control setting | slide the slider control from where ever you find it now to the lowest setting Never Notify. This will likely force a computer restart. Restart your computer normally and commence the TeleForm Workstation installation. Once the install has successfully been implemented, you can restore your User Access Control to the previous setting.
Once the computer is back up and running, confirm all the changes have been saved correctly. If they have been saved correctly, please begin the TeleForm Workstation installation from the TeleForm Shared directory on the server.
